How do I overcome anxiety in a turbulent world? I’m very susceptible to anxiety during what’s going on with the government and the world in general, like most people. My anxiety is through the roof, because I don’t know if I’m going to get my disability payment.
I’m afraid of speaking my truth, but I’m doing it anyway. That will never stop. I’m sitting on edge, waiting for the next ball to drop. They have been dropping everyday. Trump should not have immunity from prosecution just because he’s president.
If I had occurred those crimes, I would probably get a life sentence. Instead, he gets a slap on the wrist. So yes, my anxiety is high, because now he is targeting women. He is a fascist pig who needs to be removed immediately from office. Then, I will have anxiety relief.
“Nothing diminishes anxiety faster than action.” – Walter Anderson
Stress management
So how do you handle stress that is ongoing day after day? If nobody can bring him down, than God will. I’m truly not a religious person, but I do believe in God. We may have to go through some really difficult times, but justice will prevail.
I wholeheartedly believe that. Management of stress in the meantime will be tough, I don’t doubt that. But we have to keep calling our congress people, and let them know exactly how we feel. We are the majority, the government is the minority.
We need to make our voices heard all across America. It has to be so loud that it is deafening. There’s got to be a cut off line. A point of no going back. I like the quote that says “Trump needs to be impeached for his stupidity!” I totally agree.
Self-care practices
How do I overcome anxiety in these times? Implement self-care practices. Don’t bottle it inside. Speak your truth. Don’t sit on the sidelines expecting someone else to do the battle. You have a voice, use it.
Try to get adequate sleep. I know I’ve been having more sleep problems lately. You’ll need that sleep to powerhouse through the next day of round the clock anxiety. Deprivation of sleep can lead to not accomplishing your tasks at hand.
Mindful engagement with the news and social media
Don’t do what I’ve been doing, watching social media and the news around the clock. It’s so depressing and anxiety ridden. Today, I started to boycott social media because a lot of what is on there is misinformation.
I only watch the news a certain amount in the morning and at night. That way, I’m not overloaded by all the corruption going on. Every once in a while, I’ll post on Facebook about Trump and what he’s doing to our veterans.

It’s a vile shot at people who have served our country, and our co-president (Musk) fires them without batting an eye, just as long as he gets richer. The people will rise, as they have started to, and show everyone what a true democracy is all about. All over the world, people are standing up to their bullies in government.

How to stop worrying and overthinking
For those of you who have anxiety, don’t worry or overthink this. Just remember there is payback. Trump will get what he has coming to him. He may be a free man now, but that won’t last.
People all over the world protest to their dictators. So, don’t worry, Trump’s time will come, and he will pay for his crimes along with his cronies. Because true democracy exists in this country, no matter how much Musk pays to his lawyers, he will not be a free man much longer.
Overthinking gets you nowhere. Deal with the facts and know that what goes around comes around to bite you in the but (and much more). There will be consequences to those who defy the Constitution.
Mindfulness techniques
Ask yourself “how do I overcome anxiety during difficult times?” Mindfulness techniques help you stay calm and centered. Make sure you get plenty of sleep each night. Do things that relax you during the day, whether at work or at home. Listen to soothing music or whatever you enjoy.
I keep a stress ball with me if I need it during stressful times. Just squeezing something helps relieve my anger about what’s going on in this country. With Trump attacking women now, I need it more than ever.
Journaling for anxiety
Anxiety can be expressed on paper better than verbally. You have something that reflects how you feel, and you can see it. So, keep a journal and write down all your thoughts about why you’re feeling that way.
Some people express their feelings better by writing them down than trying to explain them to someone. Although, to tell you the truth, I’m the opposite. I want to hear someone else’s thoughts on the issue.
“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
How to fight fear and anxiety
Fear and anxiety are similar in nature, but how do you deal with each? Here are a few suggestions:
Anxiety triggers
How do you deal with anxiety triggers? When they happen, acknowledge them, but try not to outright react to them. That’s what gets you in trouble. Be curious, ask questions. Why am I triggered? What was my reaction to the trigger? How will I respond responsibly?

When you start asking questions, of course, your reactions will change. The anxiety will disappear, filled with understanding of the situation. You will become a calmer person. Soon, the anxiety will lose control over you, and you will be free.
Stress reduction
How do you reduce stress? Do things that will calm your nerves down. I mentioned music before. Music has its way of getting into your mind, and relaxing those neurotransmitters in your head.
Take a hot bath, it always calms me down. I also like to draw. It’s a relaxing time, because I’m more focused on the drawing than on the anxiety. Also, if you can get into a mood of cleaning, go for it. It focuses your mind on that task.
Relaxation exercises
Starting with “how do I overcome anxiety” is what you should be thinking about. Relaxation exercises will help you. I enjoyed yoga before the Parkinson’s showed up. Or any exercise for that matter. Reading a good book is also one of my favorite pastimes. I like to read horror (Stephen King).
Watching a good movie is also good for relaxation. Cooking is another relaxation technique. For some people, it’s a good distraction to what’s going on in the world today.
How to conquer anxiety and depression
How do you conquer anxiety and depression? One day at a time. It won’t happen overnight, but gradually you’ll notice changes as you go further down the path of recovery.
“Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.” – Etty Hillesum
Social support
This is something I didn’t have, but I wished I did. Basically, I have no friends and shut my family out (or they shut me out). I can’t stress how important it is not to shut people out of your life unless they are the triggers.
I felt so alone, and it took me longer to dig myself out of the hole I put myself in. If people offer to help you, take it. Don’t be the macho person thinking you can handle it on your own. People need other people.
Meditation for anxiety
I don’t know if you like meditation or have never tried it, but it works wonders. I’ve been meditating for about a year now, and it has done wonders for the anxiety. I feel more in control with my feelings than I have ever been my entire life.
You may say “well, that’s not for me.” I used to think that way until I tried it. It has brought me clarity and calmness back into my life. I’d never thought I’d be saying that, but it feels damned good.

How to overcome despair
You must have emotional resilience! What is emotional resilience? You have the control to reign in your feelings if they become out of control. Or, you can stop them before they even get that far.
Despair is a lonely place that can leave a person feeling solitude. Its damage is great and difficult to overcome. It’s like the lowest of the lows with anxiety and depression. Although, it’s not impossible to overcome.
You need to start believing in yourself again, even if it has been a long time. For me, I hated what I had become. Subsequently, I caved into the despair. I felt worthless. I believe I hit rock bottom when I tried to take my life in 2018. So, I vowed never to get that low again.
“Anxiety happens when you think you have to figure everything out all at once. Breathe. You’re strong. You’ve got this.” – Karen Salmansohn
Sum It All Up
How do I overcome anxiety? This is how I stopped anxiety from controlling my life. There are plenty of ideas on the internet, which I didn’t have way back when. But, I came through it. I’m still alive and thriving now. Never thought I would ever say those words because of despair.
I know in the beginning I ripped on Trump, but he deserves it. He’s tearing apart this country, and he’s only been in office a few months. This is where anxiety is born, because of people like him.
I won’t say overcoming anxiety is easy, but if you have the right people in your life, it becomes easier. So, make sure you talk to your friends and family about what you’re experiencing. I’m sure they won’t turn away. Peace and love. Until next time…
