Caring companions: enhancing lives of our elders so that they live in peace.

For those of you who want to give back, give home help for the elderly. I don’t care what it takes, help your elders!

Even senior’s are helping senior’s. Some of them need our help more than ever. I know most of us are strapped thin because of inflation.

Imagine being a senior and only having a low income coming in through Social Security. Some of them are probably not eating because they can’t afford groceries.

Or they can’t afford their prescriptions because they are sky high. When we have a recession, don’t fight, look out for one another!

Basic HVAC Maintenance: Keeping your HVAC system in top shape is crucial. Simple tasks like replacing filters every 3-6 months, ensuring vents are not blocked by furniture, and checking that your thermostat is functioning correctly can significantly improve your system’s efficiency and longevity.

Preparing for Seasons: As the seasons change, so do your HVAC needs.

  • Fall: Schedule furnace maintenance to ensure your heating system is ready for winter. Check for drafts around windows and doors, and seal any leaks.
  • Spring: Before the heat sets in, have your AC system checked and serviced. Clear any debris from around your outdoor unit.

Energy Efficiency: In reality, we know that managing expenses is vital. Here are a few tips to keep your system running efficiently without escalating costs:

  • Use a programmable thermostat to reduce heating and cooling when you’re not at home.
  • Seal leaks and add insulation to keep warm or cool air inside, reducing the strain on your HVAC system.

Indoor Air Quality: For those with respiratory issues, air quality is not just about comfort but health. Regularly changing your HVAC filters, using air purifiers, and keeping indoor humidity levels in check can make a significant difference.

Caring companions: enhancing lives of our elders so that they have a bathroom like Walter.

Take the case of Walter, who spent what seemed like hours in that first shower, he says. “The water was so hot and I just loved it.”

Walter talks about the volunteers and staff of Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity who transformed one of his rooms into a bathroom so he no longer had to use an outhouse.

The project was part of Habitat’s focus on repairs and renovations that can help people stay in their homes as they age.

“I never had people be so nice to me,” Walter says. “You couldn’t meet people any better.”

The capital advance does not have to be repaid as long as the project serves very low-income elderly persons for 40 years.

Use financing plans and local support systems, such as hearing aid discounts. Also, community service organizations, and state vocational rehabilitation services, to bridge gaps in coverage.

Most important, for a more complete picture of your hearing and ear health, consult with an audiologist. You can find one through the [19] American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. ASHA ProFind. Found on the internet at https://find.asha.org/pro/#sort=relevancy&f:@provider=[Audiologist]

I hope this somewhat helps you or maybe another family member. With the price of everything being so high, No one can afford anything anymore.

I feel blessed because I have a place to call home, where many elders don’t have that. They can’t afford housing costs.

The way the economy is going, there are going to be a lot more homeless in the near future, sad to say. This country is being torn apart at the seems.

November 5, 2024 will be a turning point. No matter who wins, this country is headed towards a really bad recession. Hopefully peace and alway’s love. Until next time…
