What distinguishes you from being mentally stable and from becoming a psychiatric patient? What can cause you to become mentally unstable? Lastly, why does mental illness effect some people and not others? Good questions,! Some are predisposed because it runs in their family (like me). Also, it matters how you handle the stress in your life. If there is loads of stress and you don’t know how to handle it on a regular bases, you’re going to crack under all that pressure (like me also -double whammy). Some people have to resort to taking medicine for help, yet others are able to control it with therapeutic techniques. If you have mental illness, what do you do?
Every Mind
It is important to note that experiencing mental health challenges or episodes of distress does not necessarily indicate a mental illness. It is normal for all individuals to experience stress, sadness, and anxiety at different times in their lives. These experiences are a normal part of the human experience and do not necessarily indicate a mental illness.
Becoming a psychiatric patient is less concerning then the disorder itself. It is important to prioritize mental health and seek support when needed. Mental health providers, such as therapists and psychiatrists, can provide assessments and treatments for individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges, including those who may have a mental illness. It is important to understand that seeking help for mental health is a sign of strength and can be an essential step towards promoting wellness and improving overall quality of life.
Mental Down
When stress and feelings of worry or anxiety are there all the time and build up to a level that has an impact on a person’s daily life, they may be described as having a nervous breakdown. A nervous breakdown, also known as a mental health crisis or mental breakdown, describes a period of intense mental distress. What causes mental health problems?
- Childhood abuse, trauma, or neglect.
- Social isolation or loneliness.
- Experiencing discrimination and stigma, including racism.
- Social disadvantage, poverty or debt.
- Bereavement (losing someone close to you)
- Severe or long-term stress.
- Having a long-term physical health condition.

Mental Family
Most people believe that mental health conditions are rare and “happen to someone else.” In fact, mental health conditions are common and widespread. An estimated 44 million Americans suffer from some form of mental disorder in a given year. See, so you are not alone in becoming a psychiatric patient.
Most families are not prepared to cope with learning their loved one has a mental illness. It can be physically and emotionally trying, and can make us feel vulnerable to the opinions and judgments of others.
If you think you or someone you know may have a mental or emotional problem, it is important to remember there is hope and help.
CYMHS
CYMHS stands for Child and Youth Mental Health Services. Using this term to describe mental health services that specialize in providing care and treatment to children, adolescents, and their families. CYMHS typically provides a range of mental health services, including assessment, diagnosis, therapy, counseling, and medication management for children and youth experiencing a range of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral disorders, and other psychiatric conditions.
CYMHS staff typically include pediatric psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, or other licensed mental health professionals who work collaboratively with children, families, and other relevant professionals such as teachers, counselors, or pediatricians, to provide comprehensive and specialized care.
Andy’s Man Club
Andy’s Man Club is a non-profit organization that provides mental health support to men across the UK. It was founded in 2016 by Luke Ambler, a professional rugby player, after he lost his brother-in-law to suicide. The organization was named after Andy Roberts, Luke’s brother-in-law, who had taken his own life.
Andy’s Man Club provides a safe and non-judgmental environment for men to talk about their mental health challenges and support one another. The organization runs weekly meetings in over 40 locations across the UK, where men can come together to share their experiences, discuss their emotions, and offer support to one another. Trained volunteers who are assisting the meetings, provide guidance and encouragement to participants. So becoming a psychiatric patient is less important than a person who takes their own life.
NHS Suicide Prevention
The NHS (National Health Service) suicide prevention is a set of initiatives, policies, and strategies aimed at preventing suicide in the United Kingdom. The NHS recognizes that suicide is a major public health issue and has implemented several measures to prevent suicide, including:
Developing the Suicide Prevention Plan: This is a comprehensive national plan developed by the NHS that provides a framework for suicide prevention activities across the country.

Improving Access to Mental Health Services: The NHS has increased funding and resources to mental health services and provides quicker access to specialized mental health care for those who are at higher risk of suicide.
Training and Awareness: The NHS has made training such as Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) available for those working in health and social care sectors. Additionally, there are awareness campaigns targeted at reducing stigma associated with seeking care. It’s also for people to seek help if they are experiencing suicidal thoughts or concerns.
Offering Crisis Support Services: The NHS provides telephone crisis hotlines, such as the Samaritans, which offer support to individuals who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts or are in crisis.
These initiatives aim to reduce the number of suicides in the UK by promoting early identification and intervention. Also, to provide appropriate support, and building awareness of mental health issues. It’s important to note that if you or someone you know is at risk of suicide, it’s important to seek professional help as soon as possible.
Conclusion
So, becoming apsychiatric patient is the least of your worries. Suicide Prevention is up at the top of my list because I have been down that path several times and it’s not pretty. You’re better off working through your emotions than trying to end them permanently. I know, life seems very difficult at times, however, (as they say) there is light at the end of the tunnel. When I’m having a really bad day and it seems like it’s just not getting any better, I think “well, there’s always tomorrow.” If tomorrow doesn’t seem any better (or worse), keep looking at all of the tomorrow’s. One of those tomorrow’s will be the one to keep you safe… and alive!
